Mohsin Abbas is a Pakistani journalist based in Canada.
Abbas, 33, an award winning reporter, filmmaker, blogger and press freedom activist was reporting in Pakistan, one of the most dangerous regions for journalists.
He spent the last 14 years of his career working as a reporter and features writer on South Asian issues, such as
human rights , gender, freedom of expression and child labour.Born in a Muslim family, Abbas was co-founder of a weekly newspaper for Christian and other minorities in Pakistan and served as editor for a controversial human rights magazine called
Purnam (Tearful Eyes).As Pakistani and South Asian analyst, he has appeared on CBC radio and Television, Radio Canada International, BBC, CTV, Sun TV Global national shows and many others.
While living in Canada, his writings on Pakistani subjects constantly bring him threats from authorities in his native land.
Currently he is working on a documentary called "The Handcuffed" the story of fellow journalists killed in Pakistan.
