History

Teavana started in Atlanta, Georgia in 1997, with the opening of the first teahouse at Phipps Plaza. The husband and wife team that created Teavana invested their life savings into the teahouse concept after traveling abroad, noticing the gravitation of Americans towards fine wines and coffees [ [http://atlanta.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stories/2005/02/07/story5.html] . Products

Teavana specializes in selling loose-leaf teas, tea gifts, various kinds of teapots, tea wares, tea makers and infusers, tea kettles, tea mugs and cups, rock sugar, various kinds of honey, music, and tea-related books.

Stores

Teavana retail stores are designed to be "part tea bar, part tea emporium" [ [http://www.teavana.com/c=about_teavana/shop.axd/Static] . Asian and other cultural music is often played in the background, and is also available for purchase at most locations. Retail locations offer samples of various specialty tea blends and traditional tea varieties at their front door, and within the store.
