InterTradeIreland

Inter"Trade"Ireland (Irish: Idir"Thrádáil"Éireann) is one of the six originally planned cross border/All Ireland/North South Implementation bodies set up following the Good Friday Agreement. Its functions are proscribed in law (British Irish Agreement Act 1999, annex I, part 2) [http://www.oireachtas.ie/documents/bills28/acts/1999/a199.pdf] . It reports to the North/South Ministerial Council / NSMC. It offices are based in Newry City, Co. Down in Northern Ireland.

Its mission is: "To enhance the global competitiveness of the all-island economy to the mutual benefit of Ireland and Northern Ireland through measures such as the creation of knowledge-intensive all-island trade and business development networks and the implementation of all-island trade and business development programmes."

Its website www.intertradeireland.com [http://www.intertradeireland.com] follows the convention of the cross border bodies of using neither .ie or .co/org.uk addresses, instead using .eu or .com to avoid alienating either community. The body manages and implements programs to build networks and partnerships on the Island and currently its portfolio of projects covers Science, Technology & Innovation, Sales & Marketing, Business Capability Improvement, Business Networks and Business & Economic Research.
