Pixley (Green Acres)

Pixley (Green Acres)

Pixley was the name of a town located convert|50|mi|km from Hooterville in the fictional world of the American 1960s sitcoms "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction". Unlike tiny Hooterville, where the only businesses were the general store operated by Sam Drucker and the Shady Rest Hotel, Pixley apparently had a population of several thousand and was the location of the offices of services used by Hooterville residents such as the telephone company, and the site of radio and television stations (WPIXL). There was also an airport whose primary airline was Trans-Pixley Airlines. Pixley and Hooterville were at opposite ends of the railroad that carried the Cannonball Express. A rivalry between the two communities is implied.

:"In some episodes, a water tower with the word "Pixley" appears as an establishing shot. This was likely the actual tower in Pixley, a small town located in rural Tulare County, California.
