Ph.D. , author and lecturer.Biography
Herman is a contributer to "
National Review " and "Commentary " magazines among others. In the late 1980s Herman taught at ; in the 1990s he taughthistory at Georgetown andCatholic University . Herman has also appeared at the Smithsonian's "Campus on the Mall" program. His most recent work is "Gandhi and Churchill: The Epic Rivalry that Destroyed an Empire and Forged Our Age".An important criticism of Herman's work is based upon his claim that allegedly Owen Lattimore has been verified as a Soviet spy through Venona decrypts. In fact the leading work on Venona by John Haynes & Harvey Klehr has nothing to say about Lattimore, though Herman references it in a footnote after charging that Lattimore is now known to have been a Soviet agent.
