This two features are also present in the next power-pro series game Jikkyō Powerful Major League 2(and its American version,MLB Power Pros )This is the second third-party Mii-supported game in Wii, and first third-party Mii game to allow Mii character to take real action in the game.
uccess Mode
There are two success modes in the original version, in Ketten-ban, "Dream Japan" mode is added.
The Pro Baseball Star's Street
This is main story the long running Success Mode storyline continues at, subtitled The Pro Baseball Star's Street(プロ野球 スター★街道)
The storyline continues at the point about 4 years after the events in Pawapuro 12, which NPB finally ends the long-running two league system and reformed into three league system with 6 teams each (before that, both league has 8 teams, including two original teams in each leagues). While the 4 newly added teams (original teams) in Central League and Pacific League decided to move to the new league, named Revolution League(レボリューション・リーグ, abbrv. レ・リーグ(R.L.)) in 3 years ago, two new teams, Vulcans and Busters, were added as the new teams of the R.league. R.League did not participate in
Japan Series at that time. The protogonist was a player drafted from the university in 3 years ago by the Vulcans, currently the weakest team in the league, but could only spend the time on the respective farm team, the owner demands him to become a regular main team member within one year or sacked. In order to stay in the team, the player must do everything to help him in the following season. At the same time, the Japan Series are finally open to R.League, and the another target is to claim the first Japan Series for the team, as well as for the league.
Glorious Nine - Towards the Famous Baseball Club
The Second Success mode can be chosen, subtitled Glorious Nine - Towards the Famous Baseball Club(栄冠ナイン 目指せ名門野球部)
The player starts as a coach of the small and weak Baseball Club in a High School, which their target is simple - to become one of the Koshien's regular teams with numbers of championships. And send as many quality players to pro as possible.
This mode branches out from the previous installments' Success Mode in main series, as the storyline runs only on its own. In addition, players cannot bat or pitch on their own anymore, but "giving orders" to the player how to. Also, this mode will not have any ending no matter how good or how bad the coach was, meaning the maximum playtime is infinite.
This mode is confirmed to be continuing in the sequel.
Dream Japan ~To the Top of the World~
This mode is featured only in Ketten-ban, subtitled Dream Japan ~To the Top of the World~(ドリームJAPAN ~世界の頂点へ~)
The player is the manager of the Japan National Team, which bears the responsibility of winning the gold medal in the coming "World Championship Baseball". Player are required to choose the 25 team members (with 9 pitchers) from 12 NPB teams (Japanese Players only), which one of them can be an amateur player created on that spot. Training system mainly adopts the Glorious Nine mode, but more simplified.
The Championship divided into two stages: the Asian Qualifiers in round-robin format, which the top two teams will be participate with another 6 teams in a knockout held in Hawaii.
Unlike the most Success mode in previous installments, it firstly focuses on existing players in the NPB than original players. And all games in this mode are in DH-Format which is very rare in success mode (unless in
Pacific League 's games). Also, players are required to play all the innings on their own. This mode is believed to be inspired by the
Beijing Olympics in the following year, as mentioned in Power Pro's official site's blog. However, as China is one of the opponents in the Asian Qualifiers and the finals held in Hawaii in this mode, possibly the mode also referenced theWorld Baseball Classic as well.Mylife Mode
Other than the "Invited Players", "Admired NPB Players", "Life in Pro Baseball", "Original Players" in previous installments. A new mode "Glory Road to Retirement" is added, in this mode, player plays as the final year in the NPB. Which there are 5 things to do at last: Being the hero in front of family, having fans more than the homeground's capacity, accomplishing personal achievements (2000 hits for fielders, 200 wins for starting pitchers, 300H for relief pitchers, and 250S for closing pitchers), and claiming the Champion of both the league and the
Japan Series .Although the playing manager mode in 13 is cancelled, but choosing
Atsuya Furuta (Playing manager fromYakult Swallows ) in the "Admired NPB Players" will do the same. Only having the gametime reduced to 2 years.External links
