Heald Green is a ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport.Heald Green is in the parliamentary constituency of Cheadle.

The village was in the county of Cheshire until 1974, when Stockport became a part of Greater Manchester.

To the west is Wythenshawe, with a large bus hub and shopping centre, and Manchester Airport. To the east are several large stores at the outskirts of Manchester. There are also several business parks with many well known companies in the surrounding area.
