Henri Landwirth (Born
March 7 ,1927 inAntwerp ) is an hotelier, philanthropist, and founder ofGive Kids The World andDignity U Wear . He was originally fromBelgium and is aHolocaust survivor. AfterWorld War II , he fled to theUnited States after a stint in theArmy ; Landwirth took a course inhotel management . He first worked inNew York City and then in 1954 became manager of theStarlite Motel inFlorida . In 1978 he foundedFanny Landwirth Foundation , named after his mother and theAstronaut Scholarship Foundation in 1984, with theMercury Seven astronauts. In 1986, Landwirth startedGive Kids The World after a reservation had been cancelled by the family of a terminally-ill child that had died while making arrangements for the trip. In 1999 he foundedDignity U Wear which gives clothing tohomeless and abused children and their families.Henri and his experiences in the
Holocaust and later withGive Kids the World were the subjects of a 2006documentary by Robert Allan Black entitled "Borrowing Time."External links
