Early years
In the opening of film Troy is shown attempting to assassinate
Sean Archer , his arch-nemesis, at an amusement park. His assassination fails and he accidentally kills Michael, Archer's son.Later years
Later in the film Castor plants a bomb at the LA Convention Center. He tries to escape via airplane but fails when Archer and his men intervene and prevent him from leaving. His jet crashes through a warehouse in the airfield. While his younger brother, Pollux is quickly detained and arrested, a shootout errupts, with Castor easily holding his own against several FBI agents. Eventually, Castor faces off against Archer, who is now so obsessed with capturing and/or killing Troy to avenge the death of his son Michael, he no longer cares whether he lives or dies. The equally nihilistic Troy taunts Archer, reminding him that he doesn't fear death and begins to sing. He claims that Archer obviously isn't having any fun and suggests that he join him and become a terrorist. Troy also reveals that he has placed a bomb somewhere in
Los Angeles before being incapacitated by Archer and taken into hospital where a group identified as "Black Ops" keep him alive, but in a vegetitave state, so that they can question him to find out the whereabouts of the bomb when he regains consciousness. As Sean Archer
To find out Troy's plan, Black Ops perform a radical operation in which they remove Troy and Archer's respective faces. Archer is given Troy's face and his bone and skin structure are altered to resemble Troy's so that he can enter Erehwon Prison, where Pollux is being held and find out the whereabouts of the bomb. Unexpectedly, Castor awakens from his coma to find his face is literally missing. Understandably upset, he contacts his henchmen and sends them to kidnap Malcolm Walsh, the doctor responsible for the operation, to perform another surgery. Castor, with Archer's face, visits Erehwon prison to meet Archer, who has Castor's face and reveals that he has killed everyone who knew of Archer's mission. While at first unhappy with his new body "This ridiculous chin!" Castor realises that, as a Deputy Director, he can legally destroy his opponents for the public good. Castor releases his brother, Pollux by making a deal for turning state's evidence. He tells him that he plans to be an American hero instead of destroying LA. With this, Pollux tells the FBI the location of the bomb. Castor disables the bomb at the LA Convention Center and even seduces and makes love to Archer's wife, Eve. Ironically, given Castor's gregarious, irreverant nature and offbeat sense of humour he actually becomes more popular at work that the real Archer was. Meanwhile, Archer escapes from Erewhon and goes to the glamorous apartment of Castor's brother-in-law, Dietrich where he fools Dietrich along with some of Troy's associates into thinking that he is the real Castor Troy. He also meets Castor's girlfriend, Sasha and is horrified to discover that not only does Castor have an infant son, he is the spitting image of Michael Archer, who was killed by Castor six years ago. Castor receives news via Pollux about Archer's current location, and, with that, Castor sends the FBI to Dietrich's apartment to kill Archer. In the skirmish, Castor shoots and kills Dietrich, while Archer kills Pollux, leaving Castor extremely distraught and suicidal. He is about to commit suicide until Loomis, one of Archer's friends, appears, stopping himself from committing suicide. Castor kills him afterwards. FBI Director Victor Lazaro was angered by the unnecessary carnage of Archer's battle with the terrorists and suggests that he may in fact be in league with the terrorists, due to his intricate knowledge and high profile busts of late. Castor confesses his true identity to Lazarro and quickly kills him, but makes the cause of death appear to be a heart-attack. With Lazarro's death, Castor is the new FBI director.
Fight to the death
Castor confronts Archer at Lazaro's funeral. He informs Archer that Michael's death was accidental, as Castor only wanted Archer killed. A gunfight erupts, claiming the lives of Sasha and Castor's men. Castor escapes from Archer by taking Jamie captive but Jamie escapes by stabbing Castor in the leg with the knife that he ironically had given her earlier. Castor flees and Archer pursues him to the edge of a river where they face off for the final time. Despite previously being shot and injured during the chase scene, Archer proves to be a formidable opponent - he manages to subdue Castor with a harpoon. To finish the fight, he attempts to shoot him in the chest with the harpoon, but Castor grabs it before it can enter his body. Sneering, Castor gleefully informs Archer that every time he looks at the mirror, he will see him, and begins to attempt to mutilate Archer's face(on himself) with a jagged piece of shrapnel to prevent Archer reclaiming it. Archer finally kills the madman by ramming the harpoon through his body, pinning him to the wall. Castor's last words were "I'm ready for the big ride, baby", echoing his words earlier in the film.
Personality
Castor is portrayed as a pure
sociopath . This is shown in his superficial charm, total lack of remorse and utter disregard for human life, even that of his wife and son's. He is also shown to be somewhat perverted and seems to have a lecherous desire toward Archer's daughter, Jamie. The only person besides himself he seems to care about is his brother, Pollux, whom he is quite affectionate toward. Castor is quite a charismatic individual whose brash, gregarious nature earns him the liking of Archer's staff. He also seems to develop a protective instinct toward Jamie, saving her from a rapist and arming her with a knife to protect herself. This doesn't however stop him from holding a gun to her head later in the film.
