Marius Stravinsky (born 13th March 1979,) is a British conductor. He was born in Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan and is the son of pianists Povilas Stravinsky and Eleonora Nakipbekova.

Studies
He started to play the violin at the age of four at The Moscow Central Music School. After emigrating to London, he continued his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School and Eton College, before graduating at the Royal Academy of Music in London. It is there that he founded his own chamber orchestra from fellow students and began his conducting studies. As a violinist, Marius Stravinsky has performed extensively, including Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival, Spoleto Music Festival, Melbourne International Arts Festival and many others. In 1998, he was invited to the Aix-en-Provence Festival as Claudio Abbado's assistant in Peter Brook's new Don Giovanni production (1998). From 2002, Marius Stravinsky studied conducting with Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Vladimir Ponkin. He has attended conducting master classes with Kenneth Kiesler and Eri Klas.
Professional
He was Assistant Conductor at the Moscow Philharmonic between 2002-2004. Opera debut was in Carmen at the Helikon Opera in Moscow, and he became its resident conductor from 2004-2007, conducting such works as Lady Macbeth of Mtensk District (Shostakovich), Dialogue des Carmelites (Poulenc), The Tale of a Real Man (Prokofiev), Kaschei the Immortal (Rimsky-Korsakov), Siberia (Giordano) and Mavra (Stravinsky). In 2007 he became Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of Karelia Philharmonic Orchestra in Petrozavodsk. He has worked with various orchestras in Europe and across Russia including the Royal Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg Camerata and many others. His discography includes world premiere recordings of the Ignaz Brull Violin Concerto and Symphony, Salomon Jadassohn Symphony and Pavel Pabst Piano Concerto – all on the Cameo Classics label. Stravinsky has also released recordings of the Maurice Blower Symphony, Lamia by Dorothy Howell and works by Joseph Holbrooke.
Family
Since 2011, he is married to Marina Demchenko, Editor-in-Chief of Fashion Collection.
