Grant Park Shopping Centre

Unreferenced|date=March 2008

Grant Park Mall is a shopping center in southwest Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The mall opened in 1967. Some of the original tenants were Woolco, Canada Safeway and McDonald's.

History

The mall and surrounding area became available for development in the early 1960s when the Canadian National Railway abandoned the Harte line. It made way for the construction of the Grant Park mall and the neighborhood that bears its name. Grant Park High School and the Pan-Am Pool are located across from the mall.

Mall Anchors

In 1994, Woolco stores in Canada were re-branded as Wal-Mart Canada. The Woolco location converted over to a Wal-Mart at that time. Wal-Mart closed the store when a stand-alone location was opened near Polo Park in 2001. It has since been replaced by Zellers.

Since 1995, the mall has been home to McNally Robinson, one of Canada's largest independent booksellers.

In 2008, the mall is home to around 70 stores. It is anchored by Zellers, Safeway, Manitoba Liquor Mart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Empire Theatres, Tim Hortons and A&W. McDonald's, Petro-Canada, Applebee's, and Pony Corral have stand-alone locations in the mall parking lot.
