UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES). Slovo is an interdisciplinary publication with aims to discuss and interpret Russian, Eurasian, Central and East European affairs, covering the fields ofanthropology ,economics ,film ,geography ,history ,international relations ,linguistics ,literature , media,politics andsociology . Slovo’s main goal is to provide an outlet for open discourse on the region.Writers for Slovo are primarily professors, experts within specific fields pertaining to Slovo’s scope, and research students. UCL and SEESS members of staff referee articles for the journal. Postgraduates oversee the entire management of Slovo. Slovo is produced and distributed through
Maney Publishing , making its way to academic libraries and personal collections internationally.Twice annually Slovo calls for submissions of articles and reviews. The average article ranges from 2,000 to 7,000 words and reviews are typically 700 words or less. Articles have few thematic limitations making for a wide variety of discourse around Slovo’s focal region. On occasion Slovo gives out general topics for particular essay submissions as well as Postgraduate essay contests.
The first edition of Slovo appeared in May 1988 and included contributions from staff members
