Robert Schultzberg was the original
drummer foralternative rock band Placebo. He was born inGeneva ,Switzerland on3 January 1975 and is half English (mother), half Swedish.Schultzberg joined when the band formed in September 1994, helping them to record their first studio demo in April 1995, which garnered lots of industry attention culminating in a deal with Virgin Records. (The band's first rehearsal demo had been recorded with
Steve Hewitt before Schultzberg joined, but Hewitt at the time was committed to another band (Breed) and so did not join until later).During Schultzberg's time in the band, several early works were recorded including their first 7" single "
Bruise Pristine ", the "Come Home" EP, the single version of "Nancy Boy " with b-side "Slackerbitch ", and their eponymous debut album; on the track "I Know", he playeddidgeridoo as well as drums. He left the band in October 1996 after a strained relationship withBrian Molko .Since 1996, Schultzberg has been working as a session drummer. In 2001 he was a founding member of the band Lomax.
