The team reached the playoffs in 2007 for the first time since 2001. They held off the number 5 ranked
Carver High School Panthers 13-0 at the half. Finished the game tied 13-13. Then went into overtime losing 20-13. The "golden age" of Warrior football occurred between 1980 and 1987. The Warriors posted a record of 51-33-1 going to the playoffs three times during that time period. In 1983 the Warriors were the sub-region runner up and eventually lost in the region finals to a tough Duluth squad led by running back BoBo Snow. The Warrior's oldest and most hated rivals are the Lumpkin County Indians. The Warriors have played the Indians a total of 40 times as of 2007 and hold a 29-10-1 edge in the heated series. Due to an incident in the 1986 game the series was almost suspended. During the 1986 game a bench clearing brawl occurred which required the intervention of law enforcement. The brawl began when a Warrior player was tackled near the Indians' sideline. While the Warrior player was down, several Indian players began to kick and stomp the White County player. Seeing their teammate being attacked, the Warrior bench cleared and the melee began. It took coaches and law enforcement almost twenty minutes to restore order. The most successful Coach of the Warriors was Coach Jerry Dorsey who holds a winning percentage of .602. Coach Dorsey was at the helm of the Warrior program from 1978 until 1984. The Warrior program has produced one professional player, Gary "Curly" Moss, who played one season for the Atlanta Falcons. Moss, who also played for the University of Georgia, was the hero of the 1984 Cotton Bowl when #7 Georgia beat #2 Texas. Moss recovered a Texas fumble which led to Georgia scoring the winning touchdown with seconds left.Baseball
The baseball team qualified for the playoffs in 2008 for the first time since 1990. They clinched a Number 4 seed out of 7-AAA.
Women's Basketball
The White County Women's Basketball team is the only team to ever bring a State Championship to the school. In 1981, led by Coach William "Wicky" Loudermilk, the Lady Warriors defeated their nemesis the East Hall Lady Vikings, led by All-Area Player Brenda Hill to win the school's only state championship. The Lady Warriors made several other trips to the final four in later years but came up just short.
