The Transitions are an American rock band formed in 2006 in Chelmsford, MA composed of high school students. In May 2007, their song, "Undertow" reached #1 on the music charts at LowellRocks.com and are the youngest band ever to do so. Band History

Formation

The current lineup of The Transitions was assembled in January 2007 with the arrival of vocalist Sarah Shanahan. [Ravens, Andrew "They may be young, but they can rock."The Lowell Sun." November 11, 2007] The band had originally formed in the summer of 2006 when keyboardist Matt Lavallee and bassist Josh Coombes joined drummer Josh Lombardi. Early Stages

Prior to joining the band, Shanahan wrote a large quantity of songs which the band began working on immediately. [Ravens, Andrew "They may be young, but they can rock."The Lowell Sun." March 8, 2007] After she had been in the band for two weeks, they took their new line up to Lowell Winterfest where they showed off their new material at their first concert. [Ravens, Andrew "They may be young, but they can rock."The Lowell Sun." March 8, 2007] They were then featured in The Lowell Sun's Local Spotlight on March 8, 2007. March 8, 2007] In May, the band was beginning to become very locally popular and were invited to record a demo with Marc Smith in Merrimack, NH. [CD Booklet "Enough Said" February 9, 2008] This demo included Undertow, Out of Touch, Indigo, and How's It Going to Be (some of which are included on "Enough Said"). [CD Booklet "Enough Said" February 9, 2008] "Undertow" went on to reach #1 on the music charts at LowellRocks.com and are the youngest band ever to do so. [www.myspace.com/thetransitionsband] In July, the band recorded "Every Word" with Grammy nominated pianist and producer Steve Hunt. [CD Booklet "Enough Said" February 9, 2008] Every Word went on to reach #52 on the unsigned band charts at Purevolume.com and became the focus of their first album, "Enough Said". "Enough Said"

The Transitions released their first album, "Enough Said", on February 9, 2008 at Lowell Winterfest. [www.myspace.com/thetransitionsband] Despite a sub-par performance at Winterfest according to critics, they sold 74 CD's during the first hour of sales. [www.myspace.com/thetransitionsband] On March 29, 2008, they competed in the WBCN/Berklee College of Music Battle of the High School Bands at Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA. They took the wild card spot and lost in the finals on April 12, 2008 at Harpers Ferry. On July 14, 2008, they headlined their annual concert at the Sampas Pavilion in Lowell, MA with supporting acts Under the Fig Tree and Zephyr.
