"Amblyopone" is a genus of amblyoponine ants.

Description

Workers of "Amblyopone" have a well developed sting, elongate mandibles and reduced or absent eyes. They are similar to "Onychomyrmex".

Biology

These basal ants are specialized predators of several kinds of arthropods, especially centipedes.

Distribution

"Amblyopone" is found worldwide in tropical and temperate areas.
