Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay

The Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay is one of the three film writing awards given by the Writers Guild of America Award.

The WGA Awards have always been a good indicator for the Academy Awards. From 1990 onwards, only six winners did not win the Academy Award::in 1990 "Avalon" lost to "Ghost",:in 1994 "Four Weddings and a Funeral" lost to "Pulp Fiction" (not nominated for a WGA Award),:in 1995 "Braveheart" lost to "The Usual Suspects" (not nominated for a WGA Award),:in 1997 "As Good As It Gets" lost to "Good Will Hunting", :in 2000 "You Can Count on Me" lost to "Almost Famous" and:in 2002 "Bowling for Columbine" lost to "Hable con ella (Talk to Her)" (not nominated for a WGA Award).
