The Oklahoma National Guard comprises the majority of the State Militia and consists of both Army and Air Guard departments.
Its component branches are:
- Oklahoma Army National Guard
- Oklahoma Air National Guard
- Oklahoma State Guard
- Oklahoma Unorganized Militia
All branches are under civilian control with the Governor of Oklahoma serving as Commander-in-Chief. All branches are part of the Department of the Military, which is under the authority of the Adjutant General of Oklahoma, who is an active duty member of the Oklahoma National Guard. The State Militia is an all volunteer military with no active conscription in place.
The State Militia is part of the larger military of the United States and may be federalized by order the President of the United States to execute the laws of the United States, suppress insurrections and repel invasions.
