Coimbatore North Junction(Station Code:CBF) is a railway junction located in city of Coimbatore, in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The railway line to Mettupalayam and onwards to Ooty branches off from here.
The station has four platforms, a reservation center with 6 counters and a booking office. Currently, the Cheran express, Nilgiri express and Chennai-Coimbatore Intercity express in the return direction (from Chennai) stop here. Chennai Egmore-Mangalore express, Coimbatore-Nagercoil passenger, Coimbatore-Erode passenger, Coimbatore-Mettupalayam passenger and Palakkad-Tiruchirapalli passenger stop in both directions. Many workers from Coimbatore and Tirupur use this station.
Ex-Minister of State for Railways Mr. Velu had said that "To avoid congestion in Coimbatore Junction some express trains would stop in Coimbatore North Junction also". The people of Coimbatore expect the railways to have a terminal facility in Coimbatore North for the convenience of the traveling public. [1]
