Its seat is the town of Złocieniec, which lies approximately convert|15|km|mi|0 east of Drawsko Pomorskie and convert|96|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of the regional capital Szczecin.

The gmina covers an area of convert|194.53|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 15,571 (out of which the population of Złocieniec amounts to 13,377, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 2,194).
