He played during one season at the major league level for the Baltimore Orioles. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 7th round of the 1995 amateur draft. Moriarty played his first professional season with their Class A Fort Wayne Wizards in 1995, and split his last season, 2005, between the Triple-A clubs of Baltimore (Ottawa Lynx), Chicago Cubs (Iowa Cubs), and Boston Red Sox (Pawtucket Red Sox).
