Thrupp and Brimscombe

Thrupp and Brimscombe

Thrupp and Brimscombe are small and mainly residential villages situated in the narrow Frome Valley just outside Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Brimscombe was made famous during the Industrial Revolution by its bank and canal/rail links. Thrupp also was and still is home to Ebley Mill, a famous producer of baize and felt. Although there are still a handful of shops in Brimscombe, the economic situation of the village is not what it used to be. The last shop and post office, The Happy Shopper located in Thrupp closed in 1998, leaving only the pub and servicing garage. On the upside, Thrupp School is still a leading primary school across the area with a thriving arts community and connections with Randwick and Whiteshill.

The two local Councillors, Martin Whiteside and John Marjoram, are both Green Party representatives.
