Self Service Science Forum

Dr Karl's Self Service Science Forum (sometimes abbreviated SSSF) is Australia's most popular public science discussion site.Fact|date=July 2008 Although Dr Karl himself doesn't visit the forum very often, it has a solid community of fifty to a hundred regulars who drop in each day to answer questions and discuss topics.

The site is moderated by ABC Science Online [ [http://www.abc.net.au/science/ ABC Science Online] ] , commonly referred to as "The Lab".

The forum regulars generally limit discussion in the threads to science related issues, although the site has gained a reputation for occasionally hosting broad ranging discussions, covering topics from philosophy and religion through to controversial cricket incidents.

The forum has a FAQ section and archives going back to 1999. It is closely connected with two other ABC science-related forums: Tech Talk [ [http://www2b.abc.net.au/science/techtalk/ Tech Talk forum] ] and Scribbly Gum [ [http://www2b.abc.net.au/science/scribblygum/ Scribbly Gum forum] ] . Tech Talk is a forum for everyone with an interest in (or a problem with) digital technology, while the Scribbly Gum Forum is dedicated to people who find joy in observing events in the natural world. The SSSF forum also has close connections with the ABC "News in Science" website [ [http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/ ABC News in Science] ] which is a news service specialising in recent advances in science, and with Dr Karl's home page [ [http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/ Dr Karl's home page] ] with links to podcasts.
