Born in
Minneapolis, Minnesota , Mark's early fame came when he was thebass guitar ist of The Revolution, musician Prince's original touring (and later also his recording) band. Noted for his unique,funk -based style of musicianship,Fact|date=June 2008 he became arecord producer and recording artist himself after parting company with Prince in 1986. He achieved minor successes in theR&B music field under both titles (most notably as founder and producer of R&B groupMazarati ). After a lengthy absence from the music business, he is currently recording once again as a member of Cryptic, a music group based in his hometown of Minneapolis. A R&B CD titled "It's Been Awhile" and credited to Cryptic was released by the group in 2002. Brown wrote many songs for Prince including "Kiss" in which Prince promised him a sum of money he didn't receive.Discography
