The Turceni Power Station is Romania's largest electricity producer and one of the largest thermal power plants in Europe having 7 identical groups of 330 MW each thus totalling an installed capacity of 2.310 MW (7.310 MW installed power).

The power plant is situated in the Gorj County (South-Western Romania), on the banks of the Jiu River, half way between the cities of Craiova and Târgu Jiu.
