Drew Barrymore as Amy Fisher.Anthony John Denison portrayed Joey Buttafuoco. It begins in
1992 , asAmy Fisher is lying in her bed in hospital with her mother sitting by her bedside. Earlier, she had attempted to commitsuicide , but her parents caught her, and they took her to hospital. As Amy rests, she thinks back on her life over the last two years, those fatal years where she got involved with Joseph "Joey" Buttafuoco. In
1991 , Amy's parents bought her a brand new car for her sixteenth birthday, which she loved. However, her parents didn't want her to take advantage of the fact she had a new car by using it whenever she wanted. After an argument with parents, Amy spent her birthday at her friend's house. She had previously gone to a restaurant with them, and her father also didn't like the fact that she was wearing such a revealing outfit (to keep the peace, Amy's mother told her her outfit was lovely). She flirted with the waiter, by looking at him with the corner of her eye, with a seductive smile on her face.Amy began crashing her car, and her father took her to
Joey Buttafuoco 's shop to get it fixed. She flirted with him lightly, asking him a lot of questions abouty his personal life. So, she began crashing her car a lot, so she could use it as an excuse to see Joey again. Eventually, the two began an affair. He was in his mid thirties whilst she was in her late teens (she was a minor). Amy became beyond desperate when it came to Joey. She knew he was the one for her, and even though she knew he was married to his high school sweetheartMary Jo Buttafuoco , she constantly wanted to spend time with him. When he refused to leave Mary Jo, Amy decided to hire someone to kill her. However, all her accomplises where too cowardly to get the job done, so without reluctance, Amy decided to kill her herself. With a gun, Amy went to Mary Jo's house telling her that Joey was cheating on her with a young girl. She shown Mary Jo the T-shirt that he gave her for proof when she wouldn't believe her, but even then she still didn't believe Amy, saying that Joey gave that to a lot of his customers. As Mary Jo was about to close the door on Amy, she took out her gun and shot her in the head. It didn't kill Mary Jo, but it left her face partically paralysed for life. Joey realised that it was Amy who had shot his wife. Mary Jo confirmed this when she had to choose out of a line of people who shot her, and she chose Amy, who stared back at her. The reports of the shooting were all over the newspapers, and she was given the nickname "Long Island Lolita" when it was discovered that she was a prostitute. Eventually, in late 1992, Amy was sentanced to five to fifteen years in jail. There was no evidence that Joey and Amy had a sexual affair.References
