Its seat is the town of Kańczuga, which lies approximately convert|11|km|mi|0 south-west of Przeworsk and convert|29|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of the regional capital Rzeszów.

The gmina covers an area of convert|105.15|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 12,726 (out of which the population of Kańczuga amounts to 3,211, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 9,515).
