Its seat is the village of Korczyna, which lies approximately convert|7|km|mi|0 north-east of Krosno and convert|38|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of the regional capital Rzeszów.

The gmina covers an area of convert|92.44|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 10,733.

The gmina contains part of the protected area called Czarnorzeki-Strzyżów Landscape Park.
