Halcyon class torpedo gunboat

The "Halcyon" (or "Dryad") were are class of torpedo gunboats of the Royal Navy built in the 1890s. They were twin-screw gunboats carrying 2 guns and torpedoes. with a length of 250 ft, beam of 30 ft and draught of 10 ft they displaced 1,070 tons. From 3,500 horse power they had a top speed of 18.5 knots.

*"Hazard" - 17 February 1894 Depot Ship from 1915
*"Hussar" - 3 July 1894 Broken up in 1921

They were converted to other uses before finally being broken up. Some were tenders at the Navigation School, Portsmouth. "Hazard" was a depot ship for submarines. On 2 February 1912, she collided with the submerged submarine HMS A3 which sank with a loss of 14 lives.
