List of banks in Iceland

There are five principal commercial banks banks of Iceland: Glitnir, Kaupþing, Landsbanki, Straumur Investment Bank and Icebank. Icebank serves as a clearing house for the locally run savings banks. The major banks are listed on the Iceland Stock Exchange (ICEX), although each was wholly or partially state-owned in the past.

No foreign banks operate in Iceland due to the long distances and relatively small economy. Fact|date=March 2008
