"Yo Momma" is an American reality television game show created, executive produced and hosted by Wilmer Valderrama, along with Sam Sarpong (Seasons 1 and 2), Jason Everhart and Destiny Lightsy.

"Best of the City"

As is the case for the "Best of the Week", the four weekly winners start by taunting their competitors in a free-for-all freestyle, after which the host chooses the best and he/she calls another of the contestants. The other two are paired. The pairs play dozens in freestyle until one is declared the winner by the jury panel, which are the weekly runners-ups' mothers. After two rounds (described in each season), a final knockout joke section is played, and after this, the crew chooses the winner. In order to win, you have to have originality, delivery, quickness and sting.

eason 1 (Best of LA) (early 2006)

Winner: Harp

Harp, who quickly gained popularity early on in the series with his high-pitched voice and physical antics while doing his jokes, beat Vakisha in the first round and Chuck defeated D.Redd in the other semifinal, judged by the mommas of the weekly Los Angeles runner-ups.

The first round of the finals was "Joke 'Til You Choke", where they made jokes on each other until one "chokes", as in cannot make up a retort. The second randomly paired two of the weekly runner-ups, and after one of the runner-ups insulted a finalist, the finalist then "bagged" on that runner-up. Then the knockout joke played Harp was "Float like a butterfly sting like a bee I slept with your mom and now it burns when I pee!" Harp was declared the winner of the final, dressed for the occasion with a blue cape and boxing gloves which read "Yo Momma" when put together.

Season 2 (Best of New York City) (late 2006-early 2007)

Winner: BGB

BGB strategy was to declare this his opponent's momma was missing a given body part. He would then act out how she looks performing a simple task requiring said part of body. Example: "Yo' momma got no legs, talkin' bout playin soccer like this (BGB gets on knees and hops around)."

In the freestyle round, Boomshard called out Cutless leaving the two others, BGB and Jonny Mal to face off. Like Season One, the runner-ups' moms are selected as the jury. Boomshard had consistency throughout his battle defeating Cutless 3-1. BGB's creativity won the affection of the "mommas", defeating Jonny Mal with also a score of 3-1. The first round of the final battle is called "New York City" where both competitors ping-pong jokes only relevant to NYC. The second round is the commonly known round "Joke Til You Choke" and finally the Knock-Out round. It was perhaps the craziest, most unpredictable battle in the history of Yo Momma, the final battle was close and only one pause determined the winner.

In the end, BGB reigned as New York City's undisputed top trash-talker, saying in his knockout that Boomshard's mom was so dumb, she bought Nick Cannon's latest album. The insult earned BGB $5000 and a Gateway laptop computer. Unlike Season One, Wilmer was so impressed with the final battle that he paid Boomshard $1000 despite losing because of his delivery and energy.

Season 3 (Best of Atlanta) (late 2007-early 2008)

Winner: E-Man

E-Man won the freestyle round and called out S.E.M.E., leaving Navv vs. Pak Attack. E-Man beat S.E.M.E. 4-0, Navv also beat Pak Attack 4-0.

The final two were E-Man vs Navv. The first round was the 'Joke Til You Choke' round, which was a tie as both of them went back and forth for a long time, therefore the round was stopped. The second round was about jokes based in the ATL. The final round as usual was the knockout round. E-Man wins Best of Atlanta. The best of Atlanta aired on January 3, 2008 at 12:00 noon on MTV.He was declared king of Atlanta.

The Yo Momma Online Network

In conjunction with Yo Momma, MTV launched [http://yomomma.tv YoMomma.tv] , a Web 2.0 community dedicated to increasing viewer engagement with the program, and heavily promoted during Yo Momma episodes. Site users construct a profile and upload their own Yo Momma jokes (or "disses"), and attempt to boost their rankings on the site by challenging other users to "Battles," exchanges of uploaded disses between two users. Both disses and Battles are voted on by the user community.

A corollary feature is "Let's Bully," which allows users to send insults over e-mail using an avatar of the user's face superimposed over modifiable clip art. The Let's Bully feature was the subject of a [http://www.adweek.com/aw/magazine/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003621458 recent article] in Adweek Magazine.
