Heinrich Dumoulin, S.J. (
May 31 ,1905 —July 21 ,1995 ) was aJesuit theologian , a widely published author onZen Buddhism , and a professor ofphilosophy andhistory atSophia University inTokyo, Japan (where he was Professor Emeritus) [ Dumoulin, Heinrich [http://www.worldwisdom.com/Public/Authors/Detail.asp?AuthorID=130&WhatType=1] ] . He was the founder of itsInstitute for Oriental Religions , as well as the first Director of theNanzan Institute for Religion and Culture .He was born in
Rhineland ,Germany , and ordained as a Jesuitpriest in 1933.
