Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (Ontario)

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is the Government of Ontario ministry responsible for administering the health care system and providing services through such programs as:

* Ontario Health Insurance Plan
* drug benefits - Trillium Drug Program
* assistive devices
* care for the mentally ill
* long-term care
* home care
* community and public health
* health promotion
* disease prevention.

It also regulates hospitals and nursing homes, operates psychiatric hospitals and medical laboratories, and co-ordinates emergency health services in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The Ministry consists of:

* Minister of Health and Long-Term Care: Honourable David Caplan
* Deputy Minister: Ron Sapsford
* Associate Deputy Minister: Marg Rappolt
* Associate Deputy Minister and Executive Lead, Health Results Team: Hugh MacLeod
* Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Human Resources: Dr. Joshua Tepper
* Chief Medical Officer of Health and Assistant Deputy Minister: No one currently. Previously Dr. Sheela Basrur held this role.

Ambulance Services

MOH once operated ambulance services outside of major cities in Ontario, but the services was off-loaded to municipalities in 1998-2000 period.
