Mark Cole (born 13 June 1977) is a television producer, for BBC Sport and previously Sky Sports, and currently the assistant editor of long running BBC 1 fixture Football Focus.
Cole was born in Bristol. He has produced Match of the Day, Football Focus, The Open Championship, BBC Sports Personality of the Year and the BBC cricket output for the last two years. In 2006/7 he produced preview programmes to The Ashes (with Tony Greig and Richie Benaud) and to the 2007 Cricket World Cup
Cole is a qualified journalist, having studied at Bournemouth University between 1995-98.[1] He attended Sir Bernard Lovell School in Bristol, whose alumni include Ian Holloway and close friend Marcus Trescothick. He is a fan of Bristol Rovers[2] and in 2008 helped promote the club during their FA Cup run.
In the course of his work, he has made both friends and enemies, including Tiger Woods who attempted to have his accreditation suspended from the US Masters.[3]
In 2004, Cole produced and directed a 45-minute documentary recording the life of Brian Clough, having produced the last BBC interview with "Old Big 'ead" earlier in the year.
