Its seat is the town of Warka, which lies approximately convert|25|km|mi|0 east of Grójec and convert|50|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of Warsaw.

The gmina covers an area of convert|201.14|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 18,896 (out of which the population of Warka amounts to 11,028, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 7,868).
