Its seat is the town of Andrychów, which lies approximately convert|13|km|mi|0 west of Wadowice and convert|49|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-west of the regional capital Kraków.

The gmina covers an area of convert|100.6|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 42,893 (out of which the population of Andrychów amounts to 21,691, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 21,202).
