WHAN holds a construction permit to move to 650 kHz, with a new city of license in Victoria, VA. The station will broadcast with a powerful 50kW during the daytime only.

History

The station signed on the air around 1965 as WIVE. In 1970, an FM was signed on at 100.1 as WIVE-FM. During the seventies the stations broadcast a religious format and also operated a Christian Book Store out of their studios on Ashcake Rd in Hanover County. In 1977, WIVE-AM changed to an adult contemporary format as WKDH, the calls meant to latch on to the popularity of local Hanover county theme park , Kings Dominion. By 1981 the station abandoned the format and returned to religion as WIVE-AM on 5/12/81 . WIVE-FM was also sold off around this time and became WYFJ. WIVE-AM continued broadcasting alone from Ashcake Rd, while WYFJ-FM moved to a new facility on Washington Highway. On 10-01-87, the station changed it's call sign to WMMM ( these calls are now on an FM station in Madison Wisconsin ). On 1989-07-01 to WPES. On 8-28-98 to the current WHAN.
