Diversity c. 80 genera, > 500 species Cheyletidae is a family of mites in the Trombidiformes. Some members are associated with parasitism in birds and mammals, for example causing Cheyletiellosis, also called "walking dandruff". Others are free-ranging predators in soil, forest litter, under tree bark and on foliage, in nests of a diverse range of animals, and in house dust.[2]
