History
Calvisano were founded in 1970 by a group of players, in 1992 the club became Rugby Calvisano Srl. Calvisano first qualified for European competition for the 1999-00 season, where they competed in the European Challenge Cup, playing six pool games, though they did not win any. They qualified for their first Heineken Cup for the 2001-02 season, though it was season after where the club won a couple of their pool games, but they have yet to make the finals.
In 2005 they beat Benetton Treviso 25-20 in Padova to win their first championship. They had previously lost in the final on four occasions. Later in the year, they hosted a match in the 2005-06 Heineken Cup against the Cardiff Blues that turned out to be notable as the first competitive appearance of All Blacks great Jonah Lomu since undergoing a kidney transplant in 2004. They were forced to withdraw from the Super 10 for the 09-10 season but go on to compete in Serie A.
