Paul Richard Griffen (born
30 March 1975 inDunedin ,New Zealand ) is an Italianrugby union footballer. He plays scrum half for Calvisano.Griffen played for Linwood and Canterbury in New Zealand before moving to Italy. After spending more than five years playing in the Super 10, he made his Italy debut in the 2004 Six Nations against England. Griffen proved to be one of the Azzurri's shining lights in the tournament and was voted Italy's best player alongside
Andrea Lo Cicero . He made two appearances in the 2005 Six Nations as a replacement for veteranAlessandro Troncon and also played in every match during Italy's summer and autumn international schedule. Outside of rugby, Griffen is a member of the Buffalo Club, a drinking game popularized in Anglicized nations in the Southern Hemisphere requiring players to finish their beers when they are caught drinking with their dominant hand.References
