Agasias of Arcadia

Agasias of Arcadia

Agasias (Gr. polytonic|Ἀγασίας) was a Stymphalian of Arcadia [Xenophon, "Anabasis" iv. 1. § 27] who was frequently mentioned by Xenophon as a brave and active officer in the army of the Ten Thousand. [Xenophon, "Anabasis" iv. 7. § 11. v. 2. § 15, &c.] He was an acquaintance of both Hieron and Xenophon. In his youth, he achieved an Olympic victory, and hired Pindar to compose a song of celebration. [cite book
