Henry Ashington

Henry Sherard Osborn Ashington (25 September 1891 [cite web| url=http://www.olympics.org.uk/athleterecord.aspx?at=310| title= Henry Sherard Osborn Ashington - Olympic Record| publisher=British Olympic Association] – 31 January 1917) was an English track and field athlete from Ormskirk, [England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index: Henry Sherard O Ashington; Apr-May-Jun quarter 1891; District: Ormskirk; Volume: 8b; Page: 813.] who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics.

In 1912 he finished tenth in the long jump competition and 14th in the standing long jump event.

Ashington was killed in action during the First World War, serving as a captain with the East Yorkshire Regiment near Combles. He was buried in the Combles Communal Cemetery nearby.
