Landsdeel

The "landsdeel" (English translation: "country part") is the NUTS 1 statistical region in the Netherlands. Retrieved on 2007-12-30.] The Netherlands is divided into four "landsdelen": Noord-Nederland, Oost-Nederland, West-Nederland, and Zuid-Nederland. Each of the "landsdelen" consists of two, three, or four provinces. The average size of a "landsdeel" is 4.1 million inhabitants, where the population sizes range from 1.7 million to 7.7 million inhabitants.
