Fulflej were a rock band from
Richmond, Virginia , United States, formed in 1986 by guitarist/vocalist Jason Greschke and bassist Andre Phillips. They were signed toScratchie Records .Biography
The band evolved from two previous projects. The first two incarnations were "The Un-Ones" with drummer Malcom Vaughn, hailing from
Hampton , and then moving to Richmond to form "Rhithm Lyd" Other members briefly appearing in Rhithm Lyd were Phil Searcy and Katie Power. Rithim Lyd became Fulflej in Richmond Va with Drummer Matt Nelson. In 1996 Fulflej replaced Matt Nelson with drummer Ron Lowder.Their musical style blends punk and
heavy metal with tinges ofdream pop andshoegaze . They are often compared to otheralternative rock acts such asThe Smashing Pumpkins and Catherine.Though Fulflej had recorded more than enough material over the years, they have only put out two public releases: the "Microwave" EP (1995), and "Wack-Ass Tuba Riff" album (1996).
Smashing Pumpkins membersJames Iha andD'arcy Wretzky were featured on the album, with Iha playing the E-Bow guitar on their track "Microwave", and Wretzky singing backup vocals on "Shells". Their song, "Shift Into Turbo" was featured in , which came out the following year.Fulflej also recorded another album, "To Keep A Long Story Long" in 1998, though it was never officially released. Unfortunately, the band called it quits in 2000.
