Plans to close the school were first drawn up in 2001, but these were initially shelved in July of that year after a re-think by Sandwell council officials. Heathfield Foundation Technology College for the 2002-2003 academic year. The school buildings were demolished in 2004 and the site is now occupied by the newBlackheath Primary School .
