Tamil Nadu Mineral (Tamin) has a granite quary in the village Paithur which produces first quality black granites. Attur taluk has also got a large number of Sago factories which process tapiaco roots grown in this and neighbouring taluks of Salem, Viluppuram, Trichy, Perambalur districts. The taluk is sourrended by many eastern gurads hills.
