She moved toHollywood, California and attendedMax Reinhardt 'sdrama school, where she was spotted by talent scouts while taking part in the schools stage workshop. However, she declined to attempt screen tests until after graduation. With the help of her agent,Sue Carol , wife to actorAlan Ladd , she began working withMonogram Pictures andColumbia Pictures .Most of her movies were
B-movies andserial s, often having her portraying theheroine . Her first film was in 1940, when she starred in "Billy the Kid Outlawed". In 1941 she starred in the "Adventures of Captain Marvel" oppositeTom Tyler , and that same year she had an uncredited role in the classic movie "Citizen Kane ". From 1940 to 1949 she would have roles, many of which were starring, in thirty nine films. She did a fewtelevision appearances in 1950 and 1951, after which she retired from acting.She had married actor John Whitney during her careers peak, but the marriage did not last and ended in divorce. She then married former actor John Good, and the two opened a private business remodeling and redecorating houses. The business was successful, and the two remained together until his death.
