Edgewood High School is located in Ellettsville, Indiana. The school employs about fifty teachers and about 900 students attend the school. The school is the sole high school in the Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corporation and opened in 1964, shortly after the school district consolidated Ellettsville and Stinesville schools. The school was 1997 Indiana State Champions in Academic Super Bowl Social Studies.
Since 2004, Edgewood High School's basketball team has become one of the top teams in Indiana. The students have formed a section of highly energetic student cheering section called "Brown's Brigade," the fans take their name from head coach Jay Brown. In 2008, Edgewood's Garrett Butcher, broke the Monroe County Scoring record. Garrett Butcher was also awarded with the IHSSA player of the year for all mid-large size schools. In the 2007 season the school-sponsored rugby club called the E-ville Warriors played in the semi-final round of the state championships. They lost to Noblesville by penalty kicks after a tie game at the end of an overtime period. This is the furthest a sports team has gone in state play for the school.
Edgewood High School is also known for its award-winning music program. Edgewood's top group, Music Warehouse, has been honored to receive grand-champion and first-runner-up awards throughout the nation. The Edgewood Choral Department and its director, Mrs. Verda Slinkard, were honored by the Indiana State Senate in 2001. Edgewood Show Choirs have been competing and bringing honor to their school and community for nearly thirty years. Although she is not taking part in any of the show choirs, Sophomore Amy Teige is one of the choral department's rising stars. The band has had similar success. The Marching Mustangs have been state finalists in ISSMA on three occasions, finishing 4th in 2000, 8th in 2002, and 5th in 2007.
