- Addu Kandu
Addu Kandu, Dv. for "Addu Channel", is the traditional name of the broad channel between
Huvadhu Atoll andAddu Atoll in the south ofMaldives .In the British
Admiralty charts it is called Equatorial Channel because theEquator passes through its midst.Another local name for the Addu Kandu is Mulaku Kandu, because Fua Mulaku Island lies roughly in the middle of the channel at a lat of 0° 17' S.
This channel appeared in old French maps with the name Courant de Addoue.
