The "British Journal of Anaesthesia" (BJA) is the official journal of The Royal College of Anaesthetists since 1990. It was founded in 1923, one year after the first anaesthetic journal was published by the International Anaesthesia Research Society. The BJA remains one of the oldest peer-reviewed journals of anaesthesia. The 100th issue is dated from January 2008. Although there are educational links between the BJA and the College, the journal retains editorial independence.
The present editor-in-chief is Charles S. Reilly.
